Defining Demand Management
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose: Define demand management concept and provide a guidance for the preconditions that need to be in place in order for a company to implement demand management process with its suppliers and customers. Design/methodology/approach: Uses the systematic literature review divided into three stages: planning the review, conducting the review, and reporting the review. Findings: This study clarifies the concept of demand management as the creation of synergies between operations and marketing aiming at understanding the market and developing actions synchronized with the company strategy, production capacity and final customer needs. Thus, in order to implement demand management process, it is necessary to understand the market through the capability analysis, constraints, and opportunities of external and internal environments to the organization. Such knowledge, together with the guidelines and strategic and operational practices of the company, focus on designing an efficient operational system to synchronize supply and demand through sales forecasting. In order to do so, the company needs a collaborative supply chain that consist of establishing corporative efforts between internal functions and external agents to the company aiming at meeting the final customers’ needs and obtaining competitive advantage.

Knowledge Demand Specification for KMS Decision Support
For implementing a suiting KMS (Knowledge Management System) solution for SME, the demands with regard to knowledge and the specific systemic support should be clarified. Since information in general is the starting point for defining knowledge, the question arises how knowledge and information demand are interrelated. In addition: can this be used for the determination of the according knowled...
متن کاملTwo Paradigms of Endogenous Development: Production Process & Supply-demand Relationship
Different world views and philosophies in defining development problems and their solutions derive currently from different disciplines. They refer in many respects to the principle of cause-effect as a fundamental relationship between phenomena. The history of differing values and attitudes presented in management and design indicates the importance of this relationship. This sort of knowledge...
متن کاملBalancing public bicycle sharing system by defining response rates for destinations
Public Bicycle Sharing System (PBSS) is used as a way to reduce traffic and pollution in cities. Its performance is related to availability of bicycles for picking up and free docks to return them. Existence of different demand types leads to the emergence of imbalanced stations. Here, we try to balance inventory of stations via defining maximal response rates for each type of rental request. I...
متن کاملFeasibility study of presenting a dynamic stochastic model based on mixed integer second-order conic programming to solve optimal distribution network reconfiguration in the presence of resources and demand-side management
Nowadays, with the use of devices such as fossil distributed generation and renewable energy resources and energy storage systems that are operated at the level of distribution networks, the problem of optimal reconfiguration has faced major challenges, so any change in the power of this resources can have different results in reconfiguration. Similarly, load changes during the day can lead to ...
متن کاملDefining Robust Recovery Solutions for Preserving Service Quality during Rail/Metro Systems Failure
In this paper, we propose a sensitivity analysis for evaluating the effectiveness of recovery solutions in the case of disturbed rail operations. Indeed, when failures or breakdowns occur during daily service, new strategies have to be implemented so as to react appropriately and re-establish ordinary conditions as rapidly as possible. In this context, the use of rail simulation is vital: for e...
